It’s Never Too Late

"It's Never Too Late To Be What You Might've Been." - George Eliot

And, it's never too late to do what you've always wanted to do...

This week, I FINALLY started measuring my kids' height. You know, like everyone does on the door jam? Yah that. They're 10 and 8.

Not gonna lie, I feel a bit like a #momfail when a DECADE has passed and I haven't started this rite of passage for my kids yet.

We've been renting during the young years, so using someone else's door jam didn't seem appropriate or logical, so I just never 'got around' to starting the tradition.

After I got over the mom guilt of having missed all these years, I just decided that it's OK to begin, right now, regardless of how much time we had already missed.

I'll admit I had definitely thought many times, "it's too late now...", but then considered how I might feel when they're 18 and 16, wishing I'd started when they were 10 and eight. THAT had me put the stake in the ground.

Just begin it.

Last week, after getting two 'universal nudges' on this very task, a brand new "measuring board" showed up on one of those local resale groups. It was the final 'sign' that NOW is the time to begin. So I grabbed it.

Considering that it's dark wood, and nearly impossible to see the markings, I understand why it didn't get used, lol. But that hasn't stopped me. I plan on making it more visible going forward, but the bottom line is, I DID IT!!

So what could this example of finally taking action on activities that seem to have 'expired' mean? Well, it got me to thinking about all the other things we give up on because we feel it's 'too late'. Years can literally go by, but that desire never fades. And somehow we didn't make it a priority for whatever reason.

So the question is, what have you not been doing that you've always wanted to do? It's not too late. For real. It's never too late to do the thing you've always wanted to do.

If you've ever felt like you need 'permission', or someone to encourage you to do whatever it is for you, consider this your 'sign'. Just begin it. Your future self will thank you for it. Mine already has.

Lean In. Level Up. Leverage.

The Upshot

1) What's something you've really been wanting to do - for your business or in life? Identify it, and make it a priority.

2) What would it take to actually get it started or work toward it? Is it a plan? Supplies? Does it require some of your time? Identify THAT too, and set it in motion.

3) Finally, feel the weight lift off your shoulders. It's seriously awesome. And totally worth it.

Just begin it. Your future self will thank you for it.

Tell me - what have YOU been wanting to do? Comment below. I'd love to hear.
