JUST MY LUCK! Ever declare this when something goes wrong?
What if we flipped the script? What if every 'wrong thing' was actually designed FOR us? What if that 'wrong thing' is really a gift?
Life acting FOR us is not a new concept of course, and perspective really is everything... but how does that actually impact our lives - in a realistic way?
Scientifically speaking, our ability to see 'problems' as opportunities stimulates serotonin in the brain, which leads to feelings of calm and well-being. And while that may be a 'nice' by-product, the REAL gift is that this activates the prefrontal cortex, which creates new neuro-pathways, enhancing creative thinking and problem solving!
So while 'thinking positive' is sometimes seen as a 'woo-woo' way of being, it's actually scientifically proven to improve problem-solving skills and creativity... while also inviting a sense of calm and well-being.
That's a total win-win if you ask me. And as such, it's my intended M.O. wherever I go. When things go wrong, instead of being upset (this is a conscious effort, of course), I declare (with as much joy as I can muster), "Just my luck!!".
Naturally I end up snickering to myself, which flips the negative script that could easily begin running in my head, toward creative solutions, and expected miracles. Yes, really.
And you can too. Try it yourself next time something doesn't go as planned... instead of getting upset, declare, 'just my luck!', in the most enthusiastic way possible, and see if things start to shift for you.
Until next time, Stay perky!
